Sprout’s First Wave Pool: Storybook Weekend at Villa Excellance Beach and Wave Pool

Back in February, our little family spent a splendid weekend at Villa Excellance Resort and Wave Pool at Tanza, Cavite. It was my “storybook weekend” – we were being recognized for winning in the 4th National Competition on Storybook Writing – and I wouldn’t want to spend it with anyone other than my family.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to take my family to the recognition rites itself. Although I didn’t win the top prize, it was still a major award – my first, actually.

But at the very least, my husband and daughter, along with my mama and papa, were in the same place as I was. Because the venue, Tanza Oasis Hotel and Resort, was fully booked at the time, we stayed at Villa Excellance Beach and Wave Pool for the weekend.

Because I had to attend the various programs lined up by the Bureau of Learning Resources at Tanza Oasis, I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with my family at Villa Excellance. But we were pleased with our stay. It was a huge and lovely place. I’m not one to enjoy pools, but the place was breathtaking and fun. If my daughter was older, I’m sure she would love it even more.

The Room

We rented a Standard Villa for the five of us. It was a fully air-conditioned two-storey row house with a porch. In the ground floor was a queen-sized bed, a TV, and the bathroom. Mama and Papa stayed there.

The second floor was where our family stayed. It had three queen-sized beds, a wardrobe, a vanity, and a window overlooking the sea. It can fit at least six people.

For ₱14,700 for two nights, the place was sulit.

The Food

Our stay came with free breakfast for four adults. (Sprouty’s was free because she shared ours.) This is practically the reason we booked this place. Mama always requests for a breakfast buffet, since she wants inspiration.

The food was yummy and tasted homecooked. The breakfast spread was varied, too. It had maybe five viands, soup, DIY salad, cereals, dessert, and hot and cold beverages (juice, coffee and hot chocolate).

Also, if you don’t feel like eating at the breakfast hall, you can take your plate in your room. The staff were also nice and accommodating.

What I don’t like is that you can’t buy lunch or dinner at the resort. Good thing is it’s accessible via Grab and Food Panda. But it’s also understandable, since people come here to picnic, so guests pretty much bring their own food.

The Pool

The main attraction of Villa Excellance was the wave pool. I wasn’t able to look around, but I saw at least two massive swimming pools.

Francis and Sprout swam the morning of Saturday. It’s her first time at a swimming pool, and although we prepared her by making her take her baths in a big tub at home, I guess she was overwhelmed being surrounded by so much water. She practically cried the whole time, asking for me.

Unfortunately, it rained on Sunday, so Sprout didn’t get her second day. Anyway, we had to go home early, too.

There was also a band playing by the entrance/exit that Sunday.

Overall, our short stay at Villa Excellance was splendid. I would love to return at a time when I won’t have commitments other than having fun with my family.

Villa Excellance Resort and Wave Pool is located at Brgy. Sahud Ulan, Postema, Tanza, Cavite.
